Interview with me about the Halawa case, 6 Nov 2017,
The Opinion Line with PJ Coogan,
on Cork's 96FM
radio.
There is an introduction with clips of Ibrahim on the Late Late Show.
I come in at 4:00.
The Neil Prendeville show
managed to get
Ibrahim Halawa on in Nov 2017.
I came on afterwards (on the phone).
Ibrahim Halawa was interviewed on the
Neil Prendeville show
on 24 Nov 2017.
The above is the Ibrahim interview, which starts at 41 minutes into the
entire show.
Listen to the whole thing.
Prendeville had done his homework, and gave Halawa the first proper questioning the media ever gave him.
Under Prendeville's grilling,
Ibrahim ended up saying some untrue or contradictory things:
Ibrahim denied
that
he referred to Salah Soltan and Mohamed Morsi as his leaders
in his speech from the stage in Cairo.
See 31 minutes into the above video.
But the video
and transcript
show clearly that he did.
I don't even speak Arabic, but in the video, I can actually hear the words "Salah Soltan" at 6:27.
And I can hear something like "Rayiys Morsi" (President Morsi) at 7:04.
Ibrahim claimed that
he was only at the protests for a week and a half before he was arrested (he was arrested on 17 Aug 2013).
See 4 minutes into the above video.
But in the
mosque video
he says he has been protesting since 28 June 2013,
a full
6 weeks before his arrest.
Prendeville did a great job.
Ibrahim got defensive, and really answered nothing.
Every time Ibrahim is questioned, it just seems to get worse.
