Cork's RedFM, 24 Nov 2017

The Neil Prendeville show managed to get Ibrahim Halawa on in Nov 2017. I came on afterwards (on the phone).

Ibrahim Halawa was interviewed on the Neil Prendeville show on 24 Nov 2017.
The above is the Ibrahim interview, which starts at 41 minutes into the entire show.
Listen to the whole thing. Prendeville had done his homework, and gave Halawa the first proper questioning the media ever gave him. Under Prendeville's grilling, Ibrahim ended up saying some untrue or contradictory things:

  1. Ibrahim denied that he referred to Salah Soltan and Mohamed Morsi as his leaders in his speech from the stage in Cairo. See 31 minutes into the above video.
But the video and transcript show clearly that he did.
I don't even speak Arabic, but in the video, I can actually hear the words "Salah Soltan" at 6:27. And I can hear something like "Rayiys Morsi" (President Morsi) at 7:04.

  2. Ibrahim claimed that he was only at the protests for a week and a half before he was arrested (he was arrested on 17 Aug 2013). See 4 minutes into the above video.
But in the mosque video he says he has been protesting since 28 June 2013, a full 6 weeks before his arrest.

Prendeville did a great job. Ibrahim got defensive, and really answered nothing. Every time Ibrahim is questioned, it just seems to get worse.

I came on afterwards (on the phone) to respond.

Return to The Halawa case.

Banned in Iran: This site is banned in Iran.

Blocked on Twitter by the regressive left and Islamists: I love debate. I love ideas. But the Western left and their friends the Islamic right do not return the favour. Their response to opposing ideas, whether expressed politely or robustly, is often to block. See Who blocks me on Twitter.

I like debate. But I do have rules. See Who I block on Twitter.

Twitter is broken, 2016 to 2022: I am on Twitter at markhumphrys. Twitter was a great place for debate before 2016. You could meet everyone in the world, and argue about ideas. Starting in 2016, Twitter became increasingly broken. It became full of reporting and bans and censorship. In 2019, Twitter even started shadowbanning me for no reason that was ever explained, or could be appealed. By 2022, everyone was looking for a better place to debate.

Twitter is saved, 2022: In 2022 Elon Musk bought Twitter and started to end the censorship. It looks great so far. Twitter seems to be saved.
