ELA analysis (from fotoforensics.com) suggests the small-size Amazon photo was edited. (There is an odd rectangular area.)
But ELA shows nothing odd in the large-size Amazon photo, which seems to be the original.

Something bizarre happened to the Amazon photo above when it was put on Susan Abulhawa's own site.
Pictures of terrorists have been added.
Added to the actual old photo, not added in real life.

An approved Photoshop

At first I thought this must be the original, and the terrorist photos were edited out for Amazon.
That seemed more likely than editing new things in.
But the image metadata of the Amazon photo has lots of camera information, and an early date. And the image metadata of this photo has zero camera information, and a later date. It looks like an edit.
Others have pointed out that the new pictures on the wall look odd, especially the one just above the "I love you" note. Its RHS border seems wrong.

So new things were added.
New things could be added to a picture by an enemy, but this is not what happened here.
This picture is on the author's own site. She approves of the edits.
Conclusion: Terrorist photos have been added to the picture, and Susan Abulhawa approves of that.

Photo on "Palestine Writes" site

Susan Abulhawa was (or still is) co-chair of Palestine Writes.
They have the same photo.

Pro-Israel people found it, saw the terrorist photo in it, and commented on that.
And then the page was deleted!

It does not really matter if Susan Abulhawa was literally at her desk with photos of terrorists or they were added afterwards.
The point is that Susan Abulhawa approves of them being there on the photo, and displays it on her own site.
In fact, for one of the terrorists, Ghassan Kanafani, she did both: She put a photo of him physically on the wall, and she had another photo of him added to the old picture.
So who are these terrorists?

In the photo above, above Susan Abulhawa's desk is this picture.
This is mass-murdering terrorist Dalal Mughrabi, the butcher of 13 Jewish children in 1978.

This is Ghassan Kanafani, a leader of the PFLP terrorist group. He was assassinated by Israel shortly after the Japanese Red Army and the PFLP (with Kanafani's involvement) carried out the Lod Airport massacre in 1972, killing 26 random people, mostly Christian pilgrims.
